Thank you for reading my guide, and let me know if you need help or if I need to correct any errors, I will be happy to help :).

  • This guide was written in System 7.5.5, hooray! :D.
  • This means you can write a Word document, Excel spreadsheet or PowerPoint presentation on your 3DS which you can use in the real world!
  • It is possible to write documents on MS Office 3.0 on the 3DS, send them to your computer, export them, open them in LibreOffice, then use it on a modern Office suite like the latest MS Office.
  • However, many other things should work just fine. This is normal and a limitation of the program.
  • Mini vMac on 3DS does not support networking or audio.
  • I recommend doing it over FTP to do so wirelessly. It works superbly, and I have been able to transfer all sorts of files.
  • To sync with your computer, you can transfer disk2.dsk between your 3DS and your computer and use it as a sort of container for your programs, files and documents.
  • Disable all system extensions from Control Panels->Extensions manager to make your 3DS Macintosh run faster and use less memory.

Install Mini vMac for the 3DS if you have not already done so. Navigate to /3ds/vmac and copy disk1.dsk to it, after you have installed system 7.5.3 to it. Go on the root of your 3DS SD card, and create the folder 3ds, and 3ds/vmacĬopy the 3DS folder from the Mini vMac for 3DS to your /3ds folder, and merge it in.

On linux, to add disks, you can use the -disk option, and add the directory of the disks to it. Format the Disk image when a prompt comes up, name it Macintosh, and press ok.Of course, replace the -cdrom iso with whatever your system 7.5.3 ISO is called. basilisk -cdrom System753.iso -disk disk1.dsk -rom PERFORMA.ROM -ramsize 536870912 -ignoresegv true -jit false -jitfpu false -frameskip 0. Either use chmod +x (file name), or use a gui to set it to be executable. Extract the downloaded Basilsik file, and set it to be executable.

  • Add in the missing blanks, as in add your System 7.5.3 ISO first, then disk1.dsk and optionally disk2.dsk to image files, add the performa ROM to where the Macintosh performa ROM would be, set your computer to emulate Mac OS 7 and a 68040 CPU, ignore illegal instructions, and disable JIT.
  • Optionally, create a second 10MB disk image file called disk2.dsk for sync. You may replace 1800 with any number you want, this will be size of the disk image in megabytes.
  • Type the command: dd if=/dev/zero of=disk1.dsk bs=1032192 count=1800.
  • Open a terminal window, and navigate to the folder where your files are located.
  • To create a disk image file on Linux or macOS:
  • Optionally, create a second 10MB disk image file called disk2.dsk for sync.
  • Create a new image with the GUI and name it disk1.dsk, make it 1800MB (I recommend), however you can make it any size you want.
  • The 3DS can only handle disk image files of up to just under 2GB, so I recommend using a 1800MB sized file. This can be any size you want, but ensure it is large enough to fit in system 7.5.3 and small enough to work with the 3DS.
  • -A 10MB disk image (or any size you want, I just use 10MB).ĭownload all the required files into the same folderĬreate a disk image file.
  • If you want sync functionality, please install these:
  • A Performa ROM to use with Basilisk II, which works best in my experience, though I believe most 68k Macintosh ROMs should work OK if you have them.
  • Basilisk II for Linux: Please download Basilisk II from here:.
  • -HFVExplorer if you are using Windows, to create a disk image.
  • Please download Basilisk II and Basilisk II GUI from this page.
  • The Macintosh System 7.5.5 Update, which can also be easily found as a floppy set, which you can install later.
  • I recommend downloading a installation CD rather than a floppy set, since it is much less tedious than manually installing with floppies.
  • Mini vMac for the Nintendo 3DS, by TarableCode.:.
  • Homebrew installed on your 3DS (follow this guide if you haven't done so already):.
